Whitefly

These whitefly excrete “honeydew”, a sugary substance that is excreted while the pest is feeding on the plants. This causes “sooty mold” to grow; which is a black fungus that inhibits photosynthesis and attracts other insects to feed on it, especially ants.

The biggest problem with this pest is that it seems to have no bounds, it can infect all types of plants. This pest reproduces and spreads rapidly and can have multiple generations present at any one time. In certain cases where particular plants are high value or infested trees are located over parking areas, patios, pool decks, etc.
